The UK is blessed with some fantastic wild places. Based in the East Midlands (Leicestershire & Rutland, Nottinghamshire, Derbyshire and Northamptonshire), Shrike Birding Tours offers birding guide services anywhere in England, Wales or Scotland.
With Shrike Birding Tours you get to set the pace and tone, and we’ll advise you on getting the best from your day. We can cater for birders who want to walk miles, and for birders who can’t get far from the car. We’re entirely flexible – it’s your day, and we want to help you make it as comfortable, enjoyable and productive as possible.
About John Hague
Shrike Birding Tours was founded by John Hague, a Yorkshireman now based in Leicestershire. John has been birding in the UK and around the World for more than 50 years.
John is an active member of the Leicestershire & Rutland Ornithological, editing the monthly newsletter and serving on the Rarities Committee.
John has led a number of walks, including guiding for a BBC East Midlands Today piece on Short-eared Owls. He has been a regular contributor to BBC Radio Leicester on what birds to see each week in the region and has written a number of articles and site guides for Birdwatch and Bird Watching magazines.
As well as The UK John has birded extensively in Spain and Portugal, British Columbia (Canada) and (South Island) New Zealand as well as The Canary Islands, Kenya, Singapore, Turkey, Israel and the Greek Islands. He has also birded some great cities including New York, Prague, Paris, Berlin and Brugge.
